The Effect of Facial Expressions on the Process of Learning, and Memory of Face Images among Healthy Participants and Individuals with Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI): Examination Using Eye Movements

Objective: Context-Dependent Effect (CDE) is a process by which restoring at test the original learning context enhances memory. We examined CDE of facial expressions through behavioral and eye movement measures. Participants Method: Twenty-three healthy individuals 23 patients with moderate-to-severe TBI participated in current study. were exposed to pictures faces neutral expression asked remember them for subsequent memory test. In testing session, they determine whether or not presented had appeared before, under two conditions: 1) where remains constant (facial remained neutral—the Repeat condition); 2) changes changed angry happy expression— Re-pair condition). Results: While was poorer than that control group, both groups exhibited CDE, consistency between study facilitated face recognition. groups, there relationship Dwell Time on This effect phases.
